We had a wonderful day today. We went to the Museum of East Anglian Life in Stowmarket and had a great time. I hadn't been since I went there on a school trip many years ago so couldn't really remember what was there. The children walked past a lot of the agricultural exhibits quite quickly but their favourite parts were the victorian school room, toys from the past (which they were able to play with) and the animals. There were also some activities for them to do around the museum including quizzes, brass rubbings, colouring in and an archealogical tray for children to discover hidden artefacts. There was a print shop, very active according to the website but no staff in sight during our visit, where you can have a poster printed with your name on it. The admission cost was reasonable at £6.50 for adults and £3.50 for children. If you travelled to the museum by public transport admission was reduced by £1 by showing your tickets. We took our own picnic for lunch and stopped in the on-site bistro and tea room for a drink and ice-cream at the end of the visit. The food looked lovely and is locally sourced and homemade but was quite pricey. Children's lunch boxes were £4 and sandwiches started at £3.95. Meals were around £7.

We travelled to Stowmarket by bus on a Family ticket. £8.50 for one adult & 2 children and that covered us for all First buses in Ipswich zone 2 for the day. We were lucky with bus connections today as we didn't have any more that 5 minutes to wait at any point of the journey. Charlie slept from Needham Market to Ipswich on the way home. He'd done a lot of walking, bless him. Both children were really well behaved again today and it makes it such a pleasure to take them out for days when they are good.

Tomorrow we're off to Colchester Zoo and in the evening we have Molly & Charlie's cousin coming to ours for a sleepover. Thankfully she likes to go to bed quite early so I have no worries about her and Molly being up all night chatting!
